New CHL fee - $75 (includes range fee)

Veterans, Police, Firefighters  New CHL fee $60 (Includes range fee)

Renewal fee - $60 (includes range fee)

Online Application for Texas Concealed Handgun License

To speed up process for CHL license, pay online. Fee is $140 for age less than 60 years old. Fee is $70 for age 60 years or more. Renewal for less than 60 years is $70 to the state. Renewal for age 60 years or more is $35 to the state. Veterans fee to state is $25. Active Veterans or within one year of service, their fee is FREE.

   1. Click on "Handgun Licensing"
   2. Click on "Apply for a License To Carry"
   3. Click "Continue"
   4. Click "Apply for a License"
   5. Follow Instructions

THE CLASS IS A RELAXED ATMOSPHERE FOR THE BEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

It would be best to apply online at the Texas Dept Of Public Safety Website.

Do a search on Texas Dept Of Public Safety and it will be the first one on the

list to come up. Click to go to the website and on the right side of the page,

click on License To Carry. It will take you through the process to apply.

There is a number that is requested that is on your driver's license. It is a

long number and is shown where by placing your mouse over the question

mark at that entry. After the state gets you into the system, they will send

you an email with a confirmation to the transaction and indicating what

you have left to send them.

DPS WILL ALSO ASK YOU IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A COPY OF THE

RECEIPT, DO SO. THE BAR CODED LETTER WILL BE IN THAT RECEIPT.

Make a copy of that letter as it goes with the material I will supply.

The letter has a large bar code on it. This will get you into the DPS system.

You have to be in the system to get your fingerprints made.

NEW LOCATION IN DENTON, TX.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE LEWISVILLE LOCATION. THEY HAVE HAD A

LOT OF REJECTS.

All fingerprints must be done electronically.

After your application process and you pay online for the DPS part, they

will send you to a website where you can make an appointment to get

your fingerprints done electronically. You can pay online or at the location.

Be sure you are there at your appointment time, they are particular about

that. They will only take a check or money order for $9.95 at the location,

no cash.

NO PHOTOS ARE NEEDED FOR ANY APPLICANT IF YOU HAVE A TEXAS

DRIVER'S LICENSE OR TEXAS ID. DPS WILL USE YOUR PICTURE ON YOUR

DRIVER'S LICENSE FOR YOUR CHL PICTURE.

If you have a weapon, bring it to class and one box of ammo (50 rounds).

Must be a 32 caliber or above. Can either be a revolver or semi-automatic.

I teach basic shooting skills in the classroom and at the range. You will know

how to use the weapon and be safe with it before you leave the class.
